DraCor Textbook#
The DraCor Textbook is an openly licensed Open Educational Resource (OER) that introduces learners to working with programmable drama corpora in DraCor.
It can be used for self-study or in courses and workshops. It is aimed especially at readers with little or no previous experience in Digital Humanities or programming. Each chapter combines short conceptual explanations with practical examples, exercises, self-tests and notes for instructors. The emphasis is on learning by doing: exploring data, following workflows, checking results and considering how modelling decisions affect interpretation.
The textbook covers:
building and curating drama corpora;
preparing dramatic texts in TEI/XML;
exploring corpora and plays through the DraCor front-end;
retrieving and processing data through the DraCor API;
understanding the infrastructure behind the platform.
The chapters can be read in sequence or used separately, depending on the learner’s or instructor’s needs.
